Colin and his staff are outstanding health care providers. They are smart, observant, and committed to their patients. The orthotics Colin made for me are among my most cherished pieces athletic gear. I wear them everywhere. For pain free training and competition, they are indispensable.
I have been wearing orthotics for more than 30 years. The orthotics that were designed and constructed for me by my pedorthist, are, quite simply, the best that I have ever had. The exercises suggested have also been extremely helpful.
I am a fitness instructor, and I suffered with plantar fasciitis for almost 2 years, in spite of having tried physiotherapy. High impact exercise left me limping and reaching for anti-inflammatories. My husband, who had previously had the same problem and had experienced great improvement after trying the services of one local pedorthist. Along with fitting me for orthotics, I was provided with exercises to strengthen the muscles in my feet and exercises to relieve the tension in my fascia, so that they could heal while I still maintained my exercise regimen. This, together with the orthotics, literally changed my life. I was able to increase the intensity of my exercise, and was once again confident in doing high impact aerobics, and as a nice side-effect, I lost a significant amount of weight! After just one week, I noticed immediate results after starting to wear the orthotics, even when I wasn’t exercising. I was able to become pain free and greatly increase my range of motion, increase the impact and intensity of my workouts, and walk long distances without feeling any pain or stress in my feet. I also appreciate that my pedorthist is also an athlete, and is able to identify with the unique range of needs presented by his patients. Our family has observed that our pedorthist stands behind his products, and makes sure his patients are 100% satisfied with the product they have invested in.
I went to the Fowler Clinic, barely able to put my weight on my foot. I have had a problem with my thumbs for about twenty years . I often could not write and had trouble using utensils etc. This seemed to be the same thing in my big toes. Again, the left side being the most painful. I didn’t hold out much hope for my feet and could envision myself hobbling around for the rest of my life. I was fitted for orthotics and was sent to buy specific shoes. Within a couple of weeks I was walking with minimal discomfort. I can now wear other shoes for periods of time without pain. Thanks!
I had just signed up for my first iron distance triathlon when I encountered a problem with my foot. Thankfully, the race was still 10 months out but the problem would not go away with rest. Eventually, I went to a specialist and the diagnosis suggested the problem was plantar fasciitis. The doctor gave me a prescription to go visit SoleScience. At my first visit, a variety of tests were performed and assessments to determine the best course of action. His recommendation was for me to try a number of exercises and treatments that I could do on my own to see if the problem could be corrected naturally. A follow up appointment was scheduled to see if progress was being made. As it turned out, the self-treatment provided some relief but the foot problem still persisted. It was at that point that my pedorthist suggested custom orthotics. I was hesitant at first as I didn’t know how they would affect my running. However, my pedorthist assured me that properly fitted orthoses would provide the support I required. When I received my pair of orthotics, I was advised to gradually introduce them into my running regimen. To my surprise, they were comfortable and didn’t take long to get used to. As I logged the many miles in preparation for my ironman, I experienced no pain in my feet. I was able to complete my race and was surprised afterward that I had no significant pains or injuries — just the expected exhaustion and muscle fatigue. It’s now been about two years since my first iron race and I am training for number 2 with the same pair of orthotics. There is great comfort in knowing I have the proper foot support to help me achieve my athletic goals.
Wearing orthotics works! I avoided advice to try orthotics , my logic was that I knew I did not have any pronation. However, as my arthritic ankles were keeping me awake every night, I decided to finally listen to advice and go see a pedorthist. Once I was fit with the orthotics, I started to sleep through the night! It was amazing. It is now 6 years and one hip replacement later (I fell off my bike, had pins and uneven leg length, until necrosis forced an actual hip replacement). I still have no ankle pain when I wear my orthotics regularly!
A doctor does not like to be wrong. But when a patient of mine came back from seeing Dr. Dombroski with a better shoe instead of an orthotic, I was pleasantly surprised and more than happy to be wrong. I have been referring all of my patients to Dr. Dombroski since, as they continue to benefit from his expertise in high standard of care.
